10 years
Creative Strategy
Creative Strategy gives you the clarity to move with confidence: crystalline positioning, a story that feels true, and direction that makes complex work easier to explain. You get alignment, language that resonates, and a sense of calm around decisions that used to feel heavy. It’s the path forward, finally in focus.
Brand Design
Brand Design helps you be yourself everywhere you show up: clear visuals, intuitive systems, and a voice that feels lived-in and honest. You gain consistency without effort, recognition without overthinking, and the kind of cohesion that makes every touchpoint feel intentional. It becomes easier for people to understand (and trust) who you are.
Web Design & Development
Web Design + Dev shapes how people experience your brand online. Clear where it needs to be, expressive where it counts, and built for how people actually move, think, and connect. Whether you need a website, campaign, tool, or something custom and unexpected, you get digital experiences that carry your message with ease from first load.
Marketing Support
Marketing Support gives you the high-level partnership every time-strapped leader wishes they had. Someone thinking alongside you, keeping your channels consistent, and helping you stay ahead without burning out. You get strategy, structure, and creative lift that makes the work feel lighter while your brand feels sharper.
Sales Enablement
Sales Enablement turns your value into systems that get the nod. We help founders, sales teams, and data-minded leaders move deals forward through materials that capture the magic customers actually care about. From pitch decks to PLG tools, we help untangle the overwhelm, sharpen the story, and make it easier for the right people to get it the first time.

MALI & Friends is an independent creative agency based in Long Beach, California. We work with growth-stage B2B companies that need a senior creative partner, not a vendor. Brand strategy, brand design, web design, marketing support, and sales enablement, built around where your business is going rather than where it has been. Over the past decade we have worked with 250+ brands across 35 verticals, from SaaS platforms and healthcare organizations to beauty businesses and mission-driven nonprofits. We work on a project basis, through monthly retainers, and in accelerated Brand Strategy Sprints for teams that need to move fast.
What does MALI & Friends actually do?
We help growth-stage B2B companies look, sound, and show up like the business they are building toward. That means brand strategy and positioning, visual identity, web design and development, ongoing marketing support, and sales enablement. We work across all of it or just the part you need most right now. What stays consistent is the level of strategic thinking behind the work, whether it is a full rebrand or a single campaign.
What makes you different from other creative agencies?
We are independent, senior-led, and built for the companies that agencies our size usually underserve. You are not handed to a junior team after the pitch. The people who sell the work are the people who do it. We also think strategically before we think creatively, which means the work is grounded in positioning and business context rather than aesthetic preference. The result tends to hold up longer and work harder.
What questions should I ask a creative agency before signing a contract?
The ones that reveal how they actually work, not just what they have made. Ask who will be doing the work day to day and whether the people presenting the pitch are the people on the project. Ask how they handle feedback and revisions, what the process looks like when something is not landing, and what happens if the scope changes mid-engagement. Ask for references from clients at a similar stage to yours, not just their most impressive logos. Ask what they need from you to do their best work and what has caused projects to go sideways in the past. An agency that answers those questions directly and without defensiveness is one worth trusting with your brand.
How long does a typical engagement take?
It depends on the scope. A Brand Strategy Sprint runs two to four weeks. A full brand identity system typically takes six to ten weeks. A website redesign runs eight to fourteen weeks depending on complexity. We move as fast as the work allows and we are honest up front about what a realistic timeline looks like so nothing comes as a surprise mid-engagement.
Can you handle both strategy and design, or do we need to bring in other partners?
We handle both. Brand strategy informs the design, and the design expresses the strategy. Keeping them in the same hands is how you avoid the gap between what a brand means and how it looks. We also extend into web design and development, marketing support, and sales enablement so you are not managing five different vendors to get one coherent brand out the door.
Why work with a Long Beach creative agency over a larger LA firm?
You get senior attention without the overhead. Larger LA agencies carry the cost structures that come with size, and those costs tend to show up in how they staff and prioritize accounts. As an independent agency based in Long Beach we work with a smaller portfolio of clients by design, which means the people leading your engagement are genuinely invested in the outcome. We are close enough to be in the room when it matters and lean enough to move fast when the business needs it.
What does it feel like to work with MALI & Friends?
Direct and collaborative without being precious about it. We ask a lot of questions upfront because the work goes faster and further when we understand the business context, not just the creative brief. You will always know where things stand, what is coming next, and what we need from you to keep moving. We do not disappear for three weeks and come back with a big reveal. The process is transparent by design because the best creative work happens when the client and the agency are building toward the same thing at the same time.
How does MALI & Friends think about AI search and brand visibility?
AI tools are changing how buyers find and evaluate agencies. When someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for a B2B branding agency recommendation, the answer does not come from an ad. It comes from how well your brand is represented across the sources those tools pull from. We build brands and web presences with that in mind, structuring content, positioning, and authority signals so that our clients show up in AI-generated answers, not just traditional search results. It is an emerging discipline and one we are investing in ahead of the curve.
Who do you typically work with?
Founders and marketing leaders at growth-stage B2B companies who have outgrown their current brand or never had a real one to begin with. That includes post-seed and Series A startups, scaling platforms, established companies entering new markets, and organizations with something coming, a raise, a launch, a pivot, that needs a brand foundation underneath it. We work across SaaS, AI, healthcare, beauty, professional services, and mission-driven organizations.
How do you work with clients?
Three ways depending on what you need. Project-based engagements for defined scopes like a rebrand, a website, or a pitch deck. Monthly retainers for teams that need a consistent creative partner across ongoing marketing, content, and campaign work. And Brand Strategy Sprints for companies that need to get to strategic clarity fast, in weeks rather than months. Most clients start with a project and stay for the retainer.
Do you work with companies outside of Long Beach and Los Angeles?
Yes. We are based in Long Beach and work with clients across the greater Los Angeles and Southern California region, and nationally. Most of our engagements run remotely without any loss in collaboration or quality. If you are local and want to get in a room, we are always open to that. If you found us from across the country, welcome.
What industries do you specialize in?
We have deep experience in SaaS and AI, healthcare and wellness, beauty services, and mission-driven organizations, and we have built brands across 35 verticals over the past decade. The through line is not the industry. It is the stage: growth-stage companies that need strategic creative support and a partner who can move with the business as it scales.
How do we know if we are ready to work with a creative agency?
If you have something coming and your brand is not ready for it, you are ready. That might be a fundraise where your deck does not reflect the company you have become. A product launch where the positioning is unclear. A market expansion where the brand does not travel. Or simply a point where the DIY approach has stopped serving the business. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Figuring it out together is part of what we do.
Are you a Long Beach or Los Angeles based agency?
You get senior attention without the overhead. Larger LA agencies carry the cost structures that come with size, and those costs tend to show up in how they staff and prioritize accounts. As an independent agency based in Long Beach we work with a smaller portfolio of clients by design, which means the people leading your engagement are genuinely invested in the outcome. We are close enough to be in the room when it matters and lean enough to move fast when the business needs it.
What is the difference between a rebrand and a brand refresh?
A refresh updates the surface. A rebrand rethinks the foundation. If your core story still holds but the visual identity feels dated, the messaging has drifted, or the brand just needs to be tightened up for where the business is now, that is a refresh. If the company has fundamentally changed, entered a new market, shifted its audience, or outgrown its original positioning to the point where the old story actively works against you, that is a rebrand. The deciding factor is not how much you want to change. It is whether the strategic foundation still fits the business you are actually running.
